Rushton (Tarporley)

  • Rushton was a township in Tarporley Parish, Eddisbury Hundred (SJ 5763), which became a civil parish in 1866.
  • In 1936 Rushton was extended to include most of Eaton (near Tarporley), and part of Cotebrook was transferred from Rushton to Utkinton civil parish.
  • Including the hamlets of Arderne, Brown Hills, Cotebrook (part), Ox Heys and Towns Green.
  • The population was 274 in 1801, 349 in 1851, 333 in 1901, and 415 in 1951.
