- Pensby was a township in Woodchurch Parish, Wirral Hundred (SJ 2683), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- Since 1974 it has been part of the county of Merseyside.
- Including the hamlets of Arno Hill and Lingdale.
- The population was 22 in 1801, 41 in 1851, 48 in 1901, and 2996 in 1951.

- Pensby, St. Michael and All Angels (C of E). Founded 1958 as a chapel to Barnston. Registers of Baptisms from 1958 and Marriages from 1964 are held at the church.
