- Oakmere was a township in Delamere Parish, Eddisbury Hundred (SJ 5769)—created in 1812 from the extra-parochial area of Delamere Forest— which became a civil parish in 1866.
- Including the hamlets of Blakemere, Crabtree Green, Gallowsclough, Hart Hill Bank, Plover's Moss and Sandy Brow (part).
- The population was 252 in 1851, 370 in 1901, and 467 in 1951.
