- Kingsley was a township in Frodsham Parish, Eddisbury Hundred (SJ 5475), which became a civil parish in 1866.
- In 1936 it was extended to include part of Kingswood and the whole of Newton by Frodsham, and at the same time part of Kingsley was added to Norley.
- Including the hamlets of Blakelees, Commonside, Crewood (part), Finney Hill, The Hurst, The Slack, Waterloo, Whartons Lake and Wigans Lake.
- The population was 661 in 1801, 1067 in 1851, 1066 in 1901, and 1503 in 1951.
CHURCHES AND CHAPELS
- Frodsham, St. Lawrence (C of E). The ancient parish church for Kingsley.
- Kingsley, St. John the Evangelist (C of E). Built in 1851, becoming the parish church for Kingsley and Newton by Frodsham in 1853. Registers of Baptisms 1851–1927 and Burials 1851–1902 have been deposited at the Cheshire Record Office. Registers of marriages from 1851 are held at the church.
- Kingsley, Methodist Chapel. Built in 1843.
- Kingsley, Brookside Methodist Chapel (Primitive). Built in 1864, closed in 1967. Registers of marriages 1925–1960 are at the Cheshire Record Office.
- Kingsley, Hurst Methodist Chapel (Wesleyan). Built in 1871.
