AllAboutCheshire.org.uk is a site created for and by Cheshire archives' users. You are encouraged to share your knowledge and reminiscences about the places and people of Cheshire.
Editing article pages
To edit a page, click Edit at the top of the page. When you are happy with your changes you can click OK to update the page.
Creating pages
There are two main ways to create a new page in your wiki site:
- Create a forward link to another page and then click on it to create the page:
This is the recommended way to create a page because it is easier for people to find the page when another page links to it.
Forward links to pages that do not exist have a dashed underline. Start by adding the link (see below for Creating links to pages). Click the link to go to the Create Page form where you can start typing your content.
- Create a page that is not linked to any other:
On the Left Column Menu, click Create a New Article. This takes you to a Create Page form where you can start typing your content. You can also link to e-Mapping Cheshire: Cheshire's Tithe Maps Online and categorise your article for greater exposure.
Creating links to pages
Before you create a link, make sure you have clicked Edit at the top of the page.
- You can link to another page in this wiki site by enclosing the name of the page in double square brackets on the edit form.
- To create a link to a page and have the link display different text than the page name, type a pipe character (|) after the page name, and then type the display text.
- To create a link to an external website use this button:
. This will open a new window where you will be prompted to enter the URL of the web page you wish to link to. When you have done this check the 'Opens in new window' box.
Content Approval
After successfully creating or editing an article, that posting will be submitted for approval. Please note your article will not become visible until it has been moderated and approved. Cheshire Archives and Local Studies reserve the right to edit or remove content submitted to it, for any reason.
Searching All About Cheshire
Users can search the content of all available articles through the search box on the right of any page. Click Search to find all the articles which contain the search term. The search results will show the pages with titles or main content which match or include your search term in order of relevancy. Your search term will be emboldened in the results.
