Great Stanney

  • Great Stanney was a township in Stoak Parish, Wirral Hundred (SJ 4173), which became a civil parish in 1866.
  • In 1911 it was extended in 1911 to include the whole of Stanlow.
  • In 1950 the whole of Great Stanney was added to Ellesmere Port civil parish.
  • Including the hamlets of Stanney Grange and Wolverham.
  • The population of Great Stanney was 12 in 1801, 56 in 1851, and 58 in 1901.

  • Ellesmere Port, Christ Church (C of E). The parish church since 1964.
  • Wolverham, Methodist Chapel. Founded 1954, closed in 1962.
