Darnhall (Whitegate)

  • Darnhall was a township in Whitegate Parish, Eddisbury Hundred (SJ 6463)., which became a civil parish in 1866.
  • It was extended in 1892 to include the whole of Weaver civil parish.
  • In 1936 part of School Green was transferred to Darnhall civil parish from Over, and parts of Darnhall were added to Winsford.
  • Included the hamlets of Ashbrook (part), Beauty Bank, School Green (part only until 1936), and Smithy Bank.
  • The population was 197 in 1801, 186 in 1851, 300 in 1901, and 212 in 1951.
