Alvanley (Frodsham)

  • Alvanley was a township in Frodsham Parish, Eddisbury Hundred (SJ 4973), which became a civil parish in 1866.
  • Including the hamlets of Commonside, Four Lane Ends, Teuthill (part), and Yarrangall Green.
  • The population was 314 in 1801, 312 in 1851, 319 in 1901, and 287 in 1951.

  • Alvanley, St. John the Evangelist (C of E). Built in 1790 as a chapelry in Frodsham parish, becoming the parish church for Alvanley in 1861. Registers of Baptisms 1809–1970 and Burials 1791–1885 have been deposited at the Cheshire Record Office. Marriage registers from 1861 are held at the church.
